Dear Hon. Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah and the President of the fourth Republic of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo
I am typing this to you because the workers of the CHEC a Chinese company in the western region Takoradi has not been paid their workers for some time now. They are struggling to make ends meet, and I know that many other workers are in the same situation.
The most important aspect in this situation is as follows,The company will employ you without giving you an employment letter which is obviously wrong per the Employment Rights and Protection in our constitution, We brought in the union officers they rejected the Ghana terms conditions according to labor law
Every person has the right to work under satisfactory, safe and healthy conditions, and shall receive equal pay for equal work without distinction of any kind.
Every worker shall be assured of rest, leisure and reasonable limitation of working hours and periods of holidays with pay, as well as remuneration for public holidays.
… (Art. 24)
The State shall safeguard the health, safety and welfare of all persons in employment, and shall establish the basis for the full deployment of the creative potential of all Ghanaians.
… (Art. 36)
I am typing to ask for your help in addressing this problem. Because you promised during your campaign that you are in for the people of voiceless, we believe and trusted you and voted for you, we are not asking for more all we need now is to help us, It is not fair that workers are not being paid for their work, and it is causing a lot of hardship for many families. This are the reason why robbers are killing innocent souls. The most dangerous aspect is that this CHEC this Chinese company are maturating citizens like spectators please we are voiceless, We would like to ask that you take action to ensure that all workers are paid for their work in a timely and fair manner. I believe that this is an important issue that deserves your attention, and I hope that you will take action to address it. We have believed you that’s why we voted. Thank you for your time and attention.
