In order to defend LGBT rights, I’d rather perish. — Ghana Speaker

The Speaker of the Ghanaian Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has made it clear that he will never back the legalization of LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer) activities in his nation. Speaking to reporters in Tamale, Ghana, Bagbin promised to oppose gays' rights and added that their rights will not be legalized during his lifetime. He claimed that the LGBTQ+ community was to blame for the decrease of the indigenous population in the majority of European nations, adding that this decline needed to be stopped right away. The Speaker of Parliament declared, "For you all to participate in it, count me out of Ghana because I would rather be with my Maker than to live.
